B surveys
Blár Akur provides accredited B-surveys including assessment and interpretation (TEST252). This is a monitoring of the environment in the close proximity to the site within the production area.
The results of the survey are presented in a report (pdf) describing the condition under the site and any trends over time. Blár Akur can also assist with advice and guidance on any measures to potentially improve the environmental conditions and besides work closely with your company to find best solutions.
C surveys
Blár Akur provides accredited C-examination including assessment and interpretation (TEST252). The purpose is to monitor the environmental condition in the soft bottom area around the farm site (the transition zone) based on water, sediment, chemistry and benthic animal surveys in accordance with NS9410:2016. The results of the survey are delivered in an overall report.
ISO 12878 Environmental monitoring of the impacts from marine finfish farms on soft bottom
Blár Akur offers environmental monitoring according to IS12878. Similarly to B and C surveys Blár Akur provides accredited examination (TEST252). Operational transect monitoring is a survey of the bottom conditions of the fish farm (local impact zone) and outwards into the recipient (regional impact zone). The main element is a survey of the bottom faunal communities, carried out according to ISO 5667-19 (Guidance on sampling of marine sediments) and ISO 16665 (Water quality – Guidelines for quantitative sampling and sample processing of marine soft-bottom macrofauna).
Operational transect monitoring includes information on additional parameters, which can be used to determine whether organic material arises from the fish farm or from other sources in the area.
